Virtual Attendees are Real People Too! - 5 Mistakes with Hybrid Events

Last week I attended two conferences simultaneously, one in Cancun, Mexico (MPI Meet Different) and the other in Santa Clara, Ca. The Robotic Keynote Session - How to Put Your Audience to Sleep!

Have you ever attended a Conference Keynote Session, and watched a speaker read their entire presentation from their laptop computer?  Needless to say, it is not an energetic, or engaging experience! I’m thinking there must be some truth to the idea that, before God invented Tylenol PM, there was the “Robotic” Keynote Presentation.  [...]

Learning Lessons from a Hybrid Event Experience - MPI's #MD10 Conference

About 10 days ago, I wrote an article which, in part, was critical of MPI (Meeting Professionals International) for deciding to charge “non-members” a hefty fee for their Virtual Access Pass (VAP) to the 2010 Meet Different Conference.  (occurred in Cancun, Mexico this week)

As I mentioned in yesterday’s article this “Unconference” will feature some of the finest “outside of the box” thought leaders in the events business, [...]

Event Camp 2010 –Two Days Till Showtime!

I am really fired up about this weekend’s (Saturday, 2/6) Event Camp 2010 at the Roger Smith Hotel in New York City.  An intimate group, nearly 50 people,  are registered to attend this cutting edge event.

While the attendance numbers are not huge the quality of participants is amazing. For those of you familiar [...]

Event Camp 2010 -- A Conference Outside The Norm!

I have frequenetly discussed, in my blog articles, a Twitter Hashtag group called #Eventprofs.  Without a doubt this group has been the center of my social media attention over the past year.

Several members of this community, including myself,  are collaborating on a project to produce an “Event Camp” for Event Professionals.  This cutting-edge [...]
