Learning Lessons from a Hybrid Event Experience - MPI's #MD10 Conference

About 10 days ago, I wrote an article which, in part, was critical of MPI (Meeting Professionals International) for deciding to charge “non-members” a hefty fee for their Virtual Access Pass (VAP) to the 2010 Meet Different Conference.  (occurred in Cancun, Mexico this week)

    Learning can be Painful!!

Putting aside my disagreement with MPI’s [...]

    “Golden Rule” Lessons of Criticism!

I read a couple of tweets this afternoon that really got me fired up.  They were from someone who was very critical of the hashtag community”#Eventprofs.”  I believe criticism, when delivered constructively, and accompanied with proposed solutions, is healthy.

Here are the tweets (without User’s name) … you decide if they were appropriate or [...]

MPI Virtual Access Pass - Forward Thinking or Short-Sighted??

Some of you may recall last July (2009) MPI (Meeting Professionals International) rolled out a “Virtual Access Pass” (VAP) for its WEC (World Education Congress).  The fee for this pass was $299.00 providing access to all their sessions virtually.

This move caused quite a controversy in the Events community, because of the aggressively high [...]

Eventprofs Tribe Meets for First Time -- Event Camp 2010!

When I was in grade school,  I was very active in an organization called “Indian guides.”  I learned about the concepts of fellowship, camping and community-building activities. (including craft-making and community service)  In the program we earned patches, for achieving various goals, such as “completing a nature hike,” or participating together in some [...]

Adversity & Open Mind Leads To Innovation

Earlier, this past week, I unfortunately injured my left wrist.  Subsequently, the pain has been so intense, for the past several days, that I have not been able to use the keyboard on my computer.

This morning it occurred to me there must be a speech recognition application available, that could facilitate my being [...]

Are you doing business with someone you refer to as a “partner?”  I hear business people use this word in conversation frequently, declaring they are working as partners, or in partnership with one organization or another.  What does the word “partner”mean to you?

I researched, from some online resources, definitions for the meaning of [...]
